Dera-dasis: Hundreds live as sadhvis at the Dera
When I went up to the room, I saw that Maharaj was watching a blue movie on television and there was a revolver lying near his pillow
In 2002, a sadhvi wrote an anonymous letter to then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee charging Dera Sacha Sauda president Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh with sexual abuse. The Punjab and Haryana High Court took up the letter and handed it to the cbi on September 24, 2002, after receiving an inquiry report from the Sirsa District and Sessions Judge on sexual exploitation in the dera. Translated excerpts from the letter:
Hundreds of girls like me do seva for 16 to 18 hours a day. We are being physically exploited. We are also being raped by Maharaj Gurmit Singh. I have a ba Pass degree. My family members have blind faith in Maharaj, and they inspired me to join the dera...
I was told at 10pm one day that Maharaj had called me to his chamber. I was very happy because I felt that God himself had summoned me. When I went up to the room, I saw that Maharaj had a remote control in his hand and was watching a blue movie on television. There was a revolver near the pillow... I was shocked... Maharaj took me in his arms and said he wanted to love me because when I became a sadhvi I had pledged tan, man, dhan (mind, body and wealth) to the satguru. When I resisted, Maharaj said that Lord Krishna had 360 gopis with whom he enjoyed premleela everyday. “Yet Lord Krishna is considered God by people and this is nothing new. If I choose I can kill you with this revolver and cremate you. Your family is a slave to me and they will not expose me,” he said.
Maharaj told me, “I have great influence with the government. Haryana and Punjab chief ministers touch my feet. Politicians come to me for support. They take money from me and never go against me. I can get your family members sacked from their jobs… On the power of money, we will buy off the police, politicians and judiciary.”
There are 35 to 40 girls here who have crossed marriageable age and have compromised themselves at the dera. Their families’ blind faith in the dera has resulted in the girls leading a hellish life. We appear to be devis, but are treated like prostitutes.
I told my family that all is not well with the dera but they became angry and told me that if I was not happy living next to God, then where else could I be happy? If a girl comes out with the truth about Maharaj, then she is made to shut up… One girl from Kurukshetra has told her relatives everything. Her brother was a big sevadaar but broke ties with the dera. One girl from Sangrur who told her neighbours about the Maharaj’s dirty deeds was threatened by gun-wielding men from the dera.
My life is in danger, so I will not reveal my name. I want to bring the truth out... We should be medically examined... It will be established that Maharaj Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singhji, Sant Dera Sacha Sauda, has destroyed these girls.
An innocent compelled to lead a life of humiliation.

Other Ugly Side of Faith Monger
Present Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was born on
August 15, 1967 to
Magaar Singh and Nasib Kaur. Both were devout Sikh
couple of Ganaganagr.
Gurmeet Singh is a relative of the Khalistan Commando
Gurjant Singh Rajasthani, who was gunned down by the
Punjab police near
Chandigarh in the early 1990s. During the peak of the
Punjab militancy, he
was given charge of the Dera on December 13, 1990
circumstances. Gurmeet Singh's ascension was under
wherein the other three contenders gave up and
suddenly disappeared from
the scene. He courted considerable controversy amidst
the allegation of
sexual abuse of women followers. In 2001, he was
charged with involvement
in the murder of Sirsa based journalist Ram Chandra
Chhatrapati. There are
chunk of dalit Sikhs in India. Sikhism did not
transform their lives since
centuries. It is said that dalits chose Sikhism for
the betterment of their
life that did not happen with the change of religion.
Rather they were
suppressed. On contrary Deras metamorphosed their
lifestyle that resulted
into emergence of leadership from these dilapidated
masses. The saints,
gurus and Dera representatives gave voice to these
suppressed people over
the time. Dera got immense popularity due to its
reformatory activities. It
helped them to establish at a large scale in Punjab
and other states. They
developed grip upon the system and had had enough
political impact in the
Punjab region. By now Dera has a fan following of
approximately 1.5 crores
expanding from Punjab, Haryana to Himachal Pradesh.
Though Deras does not
have a social standing, its numerical strength and
massive mass support in
Punjab and Haryana gave it political punch, which is
the in key factor in
drawing it at the center stage.
Over the past couple of months, Gurmeet Singh has been
revealed as no more
a "God reincarnate" but an earthly megalomaniac
figuring into faith a
convenient scheme indulging in his lusts. It is said
that faith is
intrinsically blind. There are several encroachments
and building plan
violations in Dera complex at Sirsa. It also gets a
allocation of electricity from Haryana electricity
board. Until recently
the Dera chief was under suspicion of murder, sexual
castration and illegal possession of arms and
ammunition. These heinous
crimes were committed in the guise of faith at its
complex under the nose
of this "self-styled God man". The CBI probe found
that Dera is a den of
vice and Gurmeet Singh guilty of rape and murder in
three cases. The CBI
has filled the charge sheet against him on July 31,
2007 in these cases in
the special court of Judge R. N Bharti at Ambala.
Sexual exploitation of
sadhvis inside the Dera premises is rampant. A few
male activists have been
forcibly castrated on his orders. The records reveal
that one sadhvi had
written an anonymous letter to the then Prime Minister
Atal Behari Vajpayee
in 2002 accusing Gurmeet Singh of rape. Punjab and
Haryana High Court
ordered a CBI probe into this that filed three charge
sheets against him.
While recording her statement before a judicial
magistrate under section
164 of the CRPC against him the victim gave graphic
details of how she was
raped twice by him inside his gufa. She had feared
that her brother would
be killed by Gurmeet Singh when he refused to return
to the Dera after the
incident. Her brother Ranjeet was found murdered at
Khanpur Kolian in
Kururkshetra on October 10, 2002. Though Ranjeet's
murder came into
limelight there has been many more murders by the Dera
chief for which even
an FIR has not been registered. One such murder was of
Fakir Chand, a
long-time accountant at the Dera, who had been close
to Baba Satnam, the
predecessor of Gurmeet Singh. His henchmen beat him in
until he died. On May 28, 2007 CBI failed to produce
its final report in
the three cases against Gurmeet Singh that was under
2002. Recently about 12 persons were injured, two of
them critically, when
Sikhs and Dera followers clashed with each other.
Gurmeet Singh was
attacked near Ghukanwali village, 20 kim from Sirsa.
He escaped unhurt when
he was accompanied by his security guards on his way
to Sirsa from
Sriganganagar in Rajasthan. When his cavalcade was
passing through a
village protesting Sikhs assaulted him. Dera followers
incident a "pre-planned" act.

Rape Chamber Of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh CBI Case
It is shameful story of how a dubious DERA head exploited women. This is a 3-4 years old case. Last governments didnt expedite investigation in Haryana and Punjab and all politicians lined before him seeking votes of his followers.

Sadhvi recounts ordeal at Dera den
Sanjay Sharma | TNN TOI August09, 2007 Delhi P-16
Chandigarh: One of the sadhvis who alleged that she was raped by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has provided graphic details of the harrowing time she had and described how the inner chamber (gufa) of the Dera chief looks like.
The sadhvi has said in a statement recorded before a magistrate in Chandigarh that as soon as she entered the gufa, doors automatically closed and she found Rahim watching a pornographic movie on a big TV screen in a sprawling room. The girl described the babas special bed and placement of ACs in the den. CBI is banking heavily on this statement as only a select few have access to that chamber.
The woman said he raped her thrice one night and threatened to eliminate her brother when she told him she would spill the beans. The agency then asked her to draw a sketch of the gufa and later matched it with statements of two other women victims. A few of those held in the murder cases against the Dera chief also gave details of the gufa which matched with the ones provided by the sadhvi.
In all, 130 sadhvis in the Dera and 18 who deserted the sect were quizzed by CBI. Two of the 18 said theyd been raped and almost all from this group said the Dera had dangerous people and they feared for their lives.
