Dear Mr. Wadala,

I wanted you to know that we are back safely in Washington D.C. after spending some time in Dharamsala after training members of the staff of the Dalai Lama in Conflict Resolution and Peace-building skills.

I wanted to express my deep appreciation to you for your dedication over the years to the idea of a zone of peace linking the two Sikh tombs in Pakistan with a Sikh tomb in India.

Your dedication over the years laid the groundwork for my comments on April 20, 2008 at the border. I also appreciated the fine press coverage my comments received and thank your colleague Mr. B.S. Goraya for his wonderful articles and pictures.

I do believe our combined efforts stimulated the visit of the foreign minister on June 29.

You should know that I am not waiting for the "feasibility study" promised by the foreign minister. I am meeting later this week or early next week with leaders of the Sikh community in Washington D.C. to discuss the peace zone and try to raise money to bring experts from Pakistan and India together in the United States to design the corridor.

Please let's keep in touch.

With Warm Regards,

Ambassador John McDonald
