Database on
minor and major religious, cultural and historical sites in Pakistan
In Punjabi
Your attention
please if you migrated from Pakistan in 1947
Are you aware of
the magnitude of the migration. What to talk of condition of the other
communities even 39% of the total population of the Sikhs had to migrate.
It was a largest migration in the human kind. It is 58 years now since our
beloved Punjab was divided. People who were just in their teen in the year
1947 are now aged
Obviously at
migration the people left behind their hearths and homes. Who would then
bother about the religious and cultural sites. Even in about half a
century many sites have vanished. Due to conditions of deficit in land the
position of Islamic shrines in East Punjab is miserable. Many of these
have just vanished from the land.
Obviously the
condition can't be better in West Punjab. We should not expect better
attitude than ours from our Muslim brethren.
In short there
is need to do something, especially for the minor historic and religious
sites in West Punjab. And now is the time. Because we are left with very
few witnesses. We wish them many years but with another 10-15 years we
will have lost many of them. Let avail some thing from their experience.
So in case you
have migrated from there please let us know about the historic religious,
cultural and political site in your erstwhile village or mohalla in
Pakistan. So that a database is prepared for the posterity please. Ask
from your elder who has witnessed and write to us. Political conditions
don't remain the same all the time. Boundaries keep on changing. God knows
when the Radcliff Line is going to be omitted.
So just write
about the place or furnish us the required information on the telephone
itself. the site, location, history etc.
