Badal Should Pass a
Resolution in Assembly- A new turn to Corridor Issue

Yesterday some papers carried all
edition news where in Manjit Singh Bhoma of All India Sikh Students
Federation has raised a demand that the Punjab Assembly should bring a
resolution demanding opening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. I don’t know what
is the equivalent of a Punjabi proverb in English which says ‘Sikhan dian
juttian te Sikhan de sir’ roughly it means ‘Sikhs beating the Sikhs’. Last
time a Punjabi paper had squarely blamed the Sikh prime minister for non
action on Corridor, now an impression is being given that delay in opening
of Corridor is because the Punjab Legislative Assembly is yet to pass a
resolution to that effect.
Since the External Affairs is a Union
subject and no such resolutions are required to be passed in the provincial
assemblies even then a lot of importance is being given to the demand. Last
time it were the Sikhs themselves to blame the Sikh Prime Minister now it is
again an outwardly a Sikh ‘organisation’ which has demanded a resolution in
Assembly. This is not withstanding the fact that apex Sikh body the SGPC and
Shromani Akali dal (Badal) had already officially demanded the corridor.
The Hindu ruler who himself demands a
similar corridor for Kailash Mansarovar temple in China is deliberately
hanging the Kartarpur Corridor issue with one pretext or the other. The
ruler is using no body else but Sikhs themselves. Some one was commenting
‘this is a slavery phenomenon’ which was also well marked and exhibited
during the British rule. (though I don’t agree) But the Sikh leaders are
comparatively cheaper. I have never come across a Sikh leader who has called
spade a spade in this Corridor demand issue. This reminds us of the
statement of an international scholar on Sikhism Dr. Noel Q. King. Dr. King
had stated that in the present times though the Sikh psyche is down but they
surely return to assert. He says such phenomenon was found after 1849
(Annexation of Sikh State)
But we feel the Sikhs are presently
taking comparatively a longer time to gain confidence. It is almost 15 years
since the Sikhs are down.
Dr. Bhoma like all other Federation
heads is a self styled Student Federation head. They all are heads but
without students. They all are ‘paper tigers’ and survive in news paper
headlines. They seldom go to colleges or schools to enroll students. Because
once they go to colleges the student become aware of the Sikh issues and
these Federationalists have accordingly been specifically advised to desist
from enrolling the students. You will never find them taking up issues of
the students. They are thus one member organisations. (Perhaps the
Federationalists can bounce the same blame on me also) They have made
themselves the jokers of Sikhs. There are about a dozen such Federations
misusing the name of S. Amrik Singh the martyr of 1984.
Any how here (in the attachment) is the
news item taken from the Jag Bani(Punjabi). Notwithstanding I am thankful
to Manjit Singh Bhoma for raising the issue of Kartarpur Corridor. Guru aape
puthian nu sidhian kar denda hai.
