Attari- Sham Singh

and other places

Attari is last point in India on a journey from Delhi to Lahore. The village of Attari is named after the gallent defender of Sikh Kingdom of Lahore. His name was S. Sham Singh. And this small town is known Attari Sham Singh

When I visited Attari on May 21, 2008, I noticed a lot  of restoration activity by a contrator of Govt of Punjab. The tomb and large historic tank of Sham Singh was being restored. It was a matter of great relief that Punjab Govt was doing something to restore heritage. Though the department didn't touch palace of S. Sham Singh. It is estimated the palace will crumble any day within 10-15 years. It has been the dubious policy of Govt not to encourage survival of ramnants of Sikh raj.
